Philanthropy - Ginn Field Project
The Philanthropy Committee organizes one project each year to give back to our community. Our current focus is the revitalization of the Ginn Field Playground which is one of the most popular areas for parents and children to convene. Past endeavors include raising funds for the Children's Room at our public library and raising over $100,000 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
Ginn Playground Restoration Project Background: The Ginn Playground Restoration Project is a collaborative vision among Winchester, MA residents to rebuild Ginn Playground. In addition to having a safe, creative and state-of-the-art park for people of all ages, we want a central playground that best represents everything Winchester has to offer to residents and visitors. This volunteer-based project has received Board of Selectmen approval and is now included in the town's river widening project. We now only need an additional $20,000 to complete the playground. The estimated cost of a new park is currently $316,000. Our goal is to complete the playground by late Fall 2011. (We cannot build a new playground until the river widening project has been finished which is expected to be completed by this Fall 2011.) Since this is privately funded we cannot achieve this goal without Winchester resident's donations. Please visit our website at www.beGINNagain.com for more information.
