Philanthropy - Ginn Field Project

The Philanthropy Committee organizes one project each year to give back to our community. Our current focus is the revitalization of the Ginn Field Playground which is one of the most popular areas for parents and children to convene. Past endeavors include raising funds for the Children's Room at our public library and raising over $100,000 for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Ginn Playground Restoration Project Background: The restoration of the playground at Ginn Field is being spearheaded by the GINN Playground Restoration Committee, which represents a collaboration between the Winchester Neighbors Club (WNC) and a group of concerned Winchester parents. The playground was last renovated more than 20 years ago and has fallen into disrepair. In addition to having a safe, creative and state-of-the-art park for people of all ages, we want a central playground that best represents everything Winchester has to offer to residents and visitors. This volunteer-based project has received Board of Selectmen approval. The park will need to be completely privately funded. The estimated cost of a new park is $350,000 to $400,000. Our goal is to have a new park completed by September 2010. Please visit our website at www.beGINNagain.com or join our Facebook Group "BeGINN Again"

Update: Come join us on Saturday, March 27th for the WNC's party of the year. This early Spring party will be the biggest WNC event of the year and will be a fundraiser for the GINN Playground Restoration Project. This "not to be missed" event will have an Aspen to Antiqua theme - think hot toddies and steel drums. What's not to love? There will be many opportunities to bid on your dream vacation or just a fun night out while enjoying fabulous food, drinks and music. Please visit our WNC home page to sign up. Feel free to invite friends. This will be a great opportunity to have a great time and give back to the community.
